Optimal Stove Placement for Heating Efficiency and Durability

The NordicSix Black Edition is the chic, black-colored variant of our most popular product, the Nordic Six. It possesses all the excellent features of the NordicSix, plus an elegant appearance that suits any terrace or home garden. The hot tub's wooden shell, stove plate, and fiberglass interior are all in a beautiful deep black tone – making your terrace even more stylish and your relaxation even more enjoyable.

The strategic placement of the integrated stove sets us apart from the competition. In colder weather, the combination of our thick shell and the insulating air pocket, created by our full wooden base instead of a frame, work synergistically to maximize heating efficiency. Unlike external stoves found in competing models, our integrated stove is nestled within this naturally insulating air pocket, ensuring unparalleled performance and an exceptional hot tub experience.

Innovative Water Management

Designed without the need for a drain trap, the tub and stove both empty through the same tap for added convenience. This clever design ensures that both the hot tub and stove water are efficiently emptied through the same external water drain tap, allowing you to direct water where needed, even for watering plants. It provides you with an effortless and eco-friendly solution for managing water.

Outstanding Thermal Insulation

Our hot tub features a unique 45 mm thick solid wood body and a sturdy 28 mm thick bottom, ensuring exceptional durability and top-tier thermal insulation, while also forming an insulating air pocket between the fiberglass interior and the body. This innovative design excels at heat retention, particularly in colder weather, enhancing the overall hot tub experience. Importantly, our technique not only eliminates the need for additional polyurethane foam insulation but also proves more cost-effective than adding polyurethane foam to hot tubs with thinner shells and no base.

Highly Efficient Marine Aluminium Stoves

Our stoves are constructed with marine-grade aluminum, a material that conducts thermal energy 15 times better than stainless steel. This exceptional conductivity ensures rapid and efficient heating of your hot tub. Our stoves are crafted from Aluminum Alloy 5754, the same high-grade material renowned for its use in shipbuilding, marine applications, and the automotive industry. Moreover, each of our stoves is meticulously hand-welded in Estonia and undergoes a rigorous pressure test before leaving the factory.

Fiberglass Inner Lining for Enhanced Longevity

Our hot tubs boast a hand-crafted fiberglass inner lining, meticulously produced in our factory. This material, also utilized in rally car body parts for its durability, offers unparalleled resistance to the elements and prevents cracking or deterioration. This added protective layer guarantees the longevity of your hot tub, ensuring it withstands harsh weather conditions and delivers many years of uninterrupted relaxation.

Thermo-Treated Wood

Both the body and bottom of our hot tubs are crafted from thermo-treated spruce, featuring an uncommon thickness of 4.5cm for the body and 2.8cm for the base, ensuring exceptional durability and insulation. Further enhanced by a coating of Teknos Woodex Wood Oil, our hot tubs offer maximum durability in various climates, safeguarding your investment against the elements and ensuring years of enjoyment in your outdoor sanctuary.

Q&A

An internal stove is the simplest solution, where the stove is located inside the hot tub. The downside is that the stove takes up a large portion of the usable space in the hot tub, and much of the heat energy is lost directly upwards through the chimney.

An external stove is an advancement, where the stove is moved outside the hot tub’s body. This allows for more space inside the hot tub, and the heating efficiency is higher because the heating chamber is surrounded by water on all sides, including the top. The downsides are the stove’s exposure to Estonian weather conditions.

The integrated stove represents the latest generation of hot tubs, where the external stove is integrated into the hot tub’s body. This solution ensures high heating efficiency (less wood and time are required for heating), ample space inside the hot tub (the stove is located under a raised seat), and the stove is sheltered from weather conditions within the structure. The result is the best user convenience, efficiency, durability, and appearance.

When the hot tub is expertly crafted, the integrated stove presents clear advantages over an external stove. Here’s why choosing an integrated stove is a smarter, more efficient choice:

Enhanced Efficiency: The integrated stove is strategically positioned within an insulating air pocket created by the hot tub’s full base. This design significantly increases thermal efficiency. Unlike external stoves, which lose heat to the external environment, the integrated stove operates within a warm setting that greatly reduces heat loss, ensuring more efficient heating of the water.

Simplified Water Draining: Our integrated hot tubs feature a unified draining system, where both the tub and stove empty through a single tap, eliminating the need for a drain trap. External stoves require draining from two separate points — a drain tap for the tub and a cap on the stove — which complicates the process. This dual-point system increases the risk of forgetting to drain the stove, potentially leading to bacterial growth and contamination. Additionally, water left in an external stove during winter can freeze and cause damage. With an integrated stove, the risk of water stagnation is eliminated, as draining the hot tub simultaneously drains the stove. This not only enhances safety but also prevents the inconvenience of unintended water spillage or ice formation around the stove area in colder months.

Compact and Aesthetic Design: Beyond functional benefits, the integrated stove is more compact, taking up less room and offering a visually more appealing aesthetic. This sleek design is what you’ll notice first, though it represents more than just a beauty advantage. The integrated stove’s design contributes to the overall functionality and safety of the hot tub, making it not just a matter of aesthetics but an integral part of the superior user experience.

Choosing an integrated stove means opting for a hot tub that is not only efficient and convenient but also safe and beautifully designed, enhancing both the functionality and the visual appeal of your relaxation space.

Sitting over an integrated stove is not any more dangerous than sitting in a standard tub. Imagine that you are actually sitting on top of a water barrel with a fire burning inside it. The maximum temperature of the stove’s outer wall is the same as the temperature of the water flowing in the tub, and the stove can be touched from the outside with a bare hand.

If it’s safe for your hand, it’s safe for the tub, with you inside it as well.

Our clear recommendation is to prefer a plastic liner. Although the hot tubs we offer have a 4.5cm thick thermowood body that would last a long time, we have decided to add a fibreglass liner for the following reasons:

  • Reliability. Wood lasts a long time with proper care, but it’s impossible to avoid wood movement (expansion and contraction). Therefore, when filling a hot tub that has been unused for a while with water, you may discover that it leaks. It then takes several hours for the water to run so that the wood starts to swell, and you may need to adjust the binding rods. After swelling, there might be too little space between the rods, requiring further adjustments. Sometimes, this process can take several days.
  • Maintenance. Anyone who has cleaned a wooden hot tub knows what it entails. The sauna’s interior inevitably comes into contact with moisture and can attract various insects, dirt, dust, and other garden debris. If all this remains on the wood surface for several months, a multi-hour cleaning session is guaranteed. A plastic liner is non-porous, so dirt doesn’t stick to it. Cleaning usually involves just rinsing with a garden hose and occasionally wiping it down quickly with a sponge and organic dish soap.
  • Ergonomics. The plastic liner is especially comfortable since the backrest is shaped to follow the back’s contour.
  • Practicality. Since the area under the seat is closed off, the water beneath the seat isn’t unnecessarily heated. This means less water is needed to fill the hot tub and less wood and time are required for heating.

No, it does not. The hot tub is ready for immediate use. Just place it in your desired location, fill it with water, and light a fire in the stove! We have also added supportive impregnated timber beams underneath the hot tub to ensure that its body is not in direct contact with the ground.

Optionally, you can mark the location for the hot tub by drawing a circle 20cm larger than its outer diameter. Within this circle, you can remove the existing ground cover (like grass), lay down geo textile fabric, and then add a small layer of crushed stone.

Maintaining clean water in your hot tub is crucial for ensuring a healthy and enjoyable experience. Here are a few tips for maintaining clean water in your hot tub:

1. Understanding Bacterial Growth:

Bacteria thrive in warm environments, particularly in water temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius. This is often the preferred temperature for hot tubs, making them susceptible to bacterial growth if not properly maintained. It’s also possible to use the tub without maintenance; however, it’s important to note that the water will remain clean for no more than 3 days in a row.

2. Filtration System:

Investing in a good filtration system is a key step. These systems circulate the water and filter out impurities, including small particles, debris, and some bacteria. Regular cleaning of the cotton balls used inside our filter systems is essential to ensure their effectiveness.

3. Chemical Treatment – Chlorine:

Chlorine has been a traditional method for sanitising pool and hot tub water. It’s effective at killing bacteria and preventing algae growth. However, it’s important to monitor the chlorine levels regularly using testing kits to ensure the water is safe for use. Overuse of chlorine can lead to skin irritation and affect the longevity of your hot tub components.

4. Chlorine Dioxide:

An emerging alternative to traditional chlorine is chlorine dioxide. This chemical is known for its efficiency in disinfecting and controlling bacteria, viruses, and algae growth in water, without producing harmful by-products. It’s gentler on the skin and eyes compared to traditional chlorine. Furthermore, it doesn’t impart a strong chlorine odor, making the hot tub experience more pleasant.

5. Regular Water Replacement:

Despite having a good filtration system and using chemicals, it’s advisable to regularly replace the water in your hot tub. Depending on usage frequency and the number of users, replacing the water every 2-4 weeks is recommended. This helps in controlling the build-up of chemicals and maintaining a healthy water balance.

6. Hot Tub Hygiene:

It’s beneficial to encourage users to shower before entering the hot tub, as this significantly reduces the introduction of contaminants – studies suggest that pre-shower can reduce the amount of bacteria brought into the tub by as much as 60%. Additionally, keeping the hot tub covered when not in use prevents debris from entering and helps maintain water temperature.

7. Monitoring and Testing:

Regular testing of the water’s pH level, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels is essential. Maintain the pH level between 7.2 and 7.8 for optimal sanitary conditions and user comfort.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your hot tub water remains clean, safe, and enjoyable for all users. Remember, a well-maintained hot tub not only provides a more pleasant experience but also extends the life of your investment.

  • Heating should only begin when the seat at the higher level, along with both openings from the stoves, are fully submerged in water!!!
  • It is recommended to set a timer, for example, 20 minutes after adding wood, to prevent the fire from extinguishing in the meantime.
  • The ideal water temperature is 38-40 degrees, according to personal preference.
  • Heating can take up to 3 hours, depending on the size of the barrel and the outside temperature.
  • The water should only be drained from the barrel when the fire in the stove has completely extinguished, preferably on the next day.
